If you've ever needed to stand up to an audience and give a speech, you know how difficult it can be. You don't just have to stay calm and remember the words you planned to say, but you need to also be able to persuade an audience to follow your goal. Discovering persuasive speaking and techniques is key for anyone who speaks publicly.

Mastering speaking persuasively can be thought of in three separate components. First of all, you have to think about mental preparation. You first must identify who the audience is and what they hold as their needs to do this. Only then can you identify your own needs in this context. Determine what your goals are for persuading. Here, the purpose always remains the same.

You need to work then on framing the process mentally. You have to straighten out what you want and what your audience wants. Only then will you be able to get yourself in the right mindset to achieve both.

The next thing for you to deal with is determining how to say what it is that you want to persuade people about. Employing illustrations or stories is one technique - you can weave them starting from the introduction and then through the whole speech. This allows the audience to have something to use to remember your points.

In this category, word choice also is quite important. You want to employ words which can influence people. Don't use weak words that can dissuade an audience or make them tune out when you speak. Instead, speak to the culture in the context that you're in. This gives everyone a chance to relate.

The way you say what you say incorporates every quality of a speech. This final component really will determine how persuasive your speech turns out to be. You need to figure out how to connect, both on the visual and visceral level, with your audience.

You will need to be able to convey your message both physically and through the literal words that you speak. Communication is not purely verbal. Because of this, great speakers are the ones that can connect totally. You want to be able to engage the audience on all levels.

Combining all three of these components will give you the skills you need to communicate effectively. Learning persuasive speaking and techniques is essential if you want to persuade an audience of anything. An audience will not react if they do not connect to the speaker.
